The assignment
JV Driver’s construction scope at CG&E EcoPower surrounded a 25 MW turbine and the hog-fuel handling and storage facilities. The installation included two combustors, two boilers, an economizer, an air-cooled condenser and supporting equipment. JV Driver self-performed civil, mechanical, structural and electrical work and managed the instrumentation subcontract.
Scope of work
- Turbine and supplementary equipment installation
- Hog-fuel handling and fuel storage
- Civil, structural, mechanical and electrical construction
- Large- and small-bore piping, including P11 and P91 chrome-moly
Delivery experience
Constructability review led to a redesign of the hog-fuel truck dump using precast concrete. The project profile credits that change with removing approximately four weeks from the schedule. This is a specific example of engineering-stage input improving field delivery.
