The assignment

The ALPAC Power Expansion brought together a Mitsubishi steam turbine-generator, a four-cell GEA air-cooled condenser and supporting plant systems. The documented power-export scope included a 138 kV transmission line and millsite substation interfaces. Work in the 2010–2012 period required coordination with the mill’s steam systems, utilities and continuing operations.

Scope of work

  • Steam turbine-generator and condenser interfaces
  • Steam piping, foundations and supporting plant systems
  • Transmission and millsite substation interfaces
  • Coordination within an operating pulp mill

Delivery experience

The detailed installation profile identifies turbine and generator piers and pier caps, floor slabs and approximately 120 tons of reinforcing steel. Mechanical work included the turbine-generator, steam piping and air-condensing equipment. The profile records completion of that installation scope in November 2011.
