Fort McKay, Alberta
The assignment
At the Horizon Hydrogen Plant, JV Driver brought civil, structural, mechanical, piping and electrical disciplines together around a reformer, two compressors and a pressure-swing adsorption facility. The work included foundations, support steel, modules, reformer pressure parts and extensive carbon-steel and stainless-steel piping. Additional electrical scopes were incorporated as the project progressed.
Scope of work
- Piles, concrete foundations and structural supports
- Module installation and mechanical equipment
- Reformer construction, pressure parts and alloy welding
- Electrical installation and additional workforce mobilization
Delivery experience
When additional electrical work entered the scope, the project team mobilized more than 150 electricians in less than three weeks. The profile records a weld-repair rate below 1%, illustrating the importance of workforce planning and quality control on this assignment.
