Frog Lake Concrete Enterprise Support

Technical support and hands-on knowledge transfer for a Nation-owned concrete production business.

Frog Lake First Nation, Alberta

The assignment

Frog Lake acquired a used concrete batch plant to support its own building needs and explore regional supply opportunities. Hillcore/JV Driver connected the Nation with an IDL technical specialist to assess the plant and identify the equipment, operating practices and readiness steps needed for reliable production. The nearby water-treatment project provided an immediate reason to align plant readiness with construction demand.

Scope of work

  • Plant assessment and practical improvement plan
  • Review batching performance and production constraints
  • Support equipment selection and winter-readiness planning
  • Hands-on technical guidance and local skills development

Delivery experience

The report documents equipment acquisition and work to improve water supply, pumping and conveyor performance. Certification support, winter readiness, training and an operations-and-maintenance handover were part of the continuing program. The purpose was to help the Nation develop operating capability and future business opportunity; completed certification or commercial self-sufficiency is not claimed here.
