The assignment

JV Driver served as general contractor for Weyerhaeuser’s Grande Prairie Optimization Project. The program combined environmental and production-efficiency objectives through changes to chemical recovery, fibreline and machine-room systems. Construction included a two-stage oxygen-delignification system with washing, recausticizing modernization, washer and pump upgrades, a new chip bin and modifications to the pulp machine.

Scope of work

  • Oxygen delignification and pre- and post-oxygen washing
  • Recausticizing and polysulphide-system installation
  • Brownstock washers, press equipment and pump upgrades
  • Chip-bin replacement, pulp-machine upgrades and control room
