Mill Optimization Project

JVD has completed the construction contract for Highland Valley Copper, the contract was carried out through a Joint Venture between Fluor Canada and JVD.

Located approximately one hour from Kamloops B.C., Highland Valley Copper is an existing open pit copper molybdenum operation. The plant has a current nominal production rate of 125,000 tpd of ore. The project scope includes the installation of a new pebble crushing facility, upgrades in the existing grinding building, a new floatation facility, upgrades to the existing regent area and a new 138KV transformer. The project will maintain a crew of approximately 500-600, consisting of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping and Electrical disciplines and over 1,000,000 direct man-hours.

JV Driver was awarded the Phase 1 Expansion to the Belle Plaine facility. The primary purpose of the expansion is to increase the water availability to the mine field in order to allow further solution mining. The award included the following scope:

• Two Salt Water Disposal Wells. Our scope is the piling, civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and cladding
• One Reclaim Brine Pump House. Our scope is the piling, civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and cladding
• Power House, including the setting of a package boiler. Our scope is the piling, civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and cladding
• Process Water Building. This building includes two tanks, one a raw water storage tank and the other, the hot water storage tank. Our scope is the piling, civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and cladding
• 138 KV Substation. Our scope is the piling, civil, structural steel, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and cladding.

In addition, to the construction scope of work we are providing constructability, purchasing and expediting services to our client.

Esterhazy K2 mine Expansion

JVD was awarded the Compactor Building for the Esterhazy K2 Mine Expansion. The 9 story structure measures 80 ft. (Width) X 150 ft. (Height) X 80 (Depth). JVD’s scope included the piping, mechanical, chutes, ducting and a portion of the structural steel. The project incorporated over 3000 ft. of pipe of varying commodities. The Mechanical equipment included multiple drag chain conveyors and elevators. In addition to the construction scope of work we provided purchasing and expediting services to our client.

McArthur River Uranium Mines

JV Driver spearheaded the joint venture English River Constructors. Utilizing innovative labour strategies implemented by JV Driver, English River Consructors successfully built the Uranium Slurry Loadout Facility for Cameco Corporation of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The facility included the largest Pachuca Tanks ever built in Canada and a 100’ high concrete containment wall constructed through extreme weather conditions. Full civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation services were provided for the project.

This project employed a peak workforce of 247 individuals primarily in an open shop labour scenario. The job was completed in eleven (11) months through winter conditions, with no Lost Time Accidents.
